Many thanks

Hi Shirl,

There's no reason it won't run under Vista. Are you using the right
Product Key for installing the Office software? It is not the same as the
one for Vista.

Should run fine. I'n running Office 97 in Vista and it's never looked so
good! Be encouraged.

Thanks for your reply. I'm using the product key that came with the original
software which is telling the installation to look for windows 98, 2000 and
xp. I've tried several times and it doesn't want to know. Where can I get
another product key, if at all possible

Can you post the exact error message you get? When do you get the error?
When you enter the key?

I'm not sure what you're doing.

I installed Office 2003 by setting the setup file compatibility to XP Pro
SP2 and Run as Administrator. It installed fine and, of course, accepted
the installation key. I don't recall, at this point, whether I changed the
compatibility settings on the installed executables as well.

i want to run microsoft office xp on vista why wont it run it just becuase
its for xp is there a way to change it!!!!

You need to run it as "Administrator." That's what elevated rights means. If
you are a user/administrator, open your E: folder to read; not install.
Right click on the "autorun.vbs" file and choose "Run as Administrator" from
the right-click drop-down menu. Windows will probably set the Office file
types to default to Office 2003. If you plan on running Office 2003
exclusively, you should probably remove your trial of 2007 before
installing.

If you don't have administrator rights, you will need to have the
administrator install it for you.

Some additional information - the student versions of Office are not
upgradable - so stated in the documentation - reason for reduced price.

You have to uninstall the Trial version. That is why the error
