I installed a program that required that Microsoft .NET Framework also be
installed in order for it to work. That was all well and fine, except now
when I bootup instead of booting all the way to win XP, it stops at welcome
screen <I think> where I have to click on my name icon for the boot to
continue. How to I set it up so that I boot all the way into XP without
stopping at this screen.
Thank You

Hi Jerry;
Can't help you but I will be interested in any comments you get as I
have noticed changes in my bootup after installing an update for .Net
Framework.
When I first got this computer with WinXP it booted right to my
desktop,no option to logon even though I set it up that way, when I
installed a update back for .Net in Aug/04 I then got the option to log
on at bootup...another .Net update was available the first of this
week...so I updated, now I'm back to no option to logon, just straight
bootup to desktop, but I do think it takes longer to bootup now and all
my desktop icons take even longer to gain all their colour.(G)
Maybe someone will solve your problem and help solve my minor problem in
the way.(G)
Hope someone is able to provide you with an answer.

Check Mark Salloway's explanation here
http://mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsXP/aspdot.php As the article mentions you can
remove the account if you are not into ASP.Net development work (hint if you
don't know if you need it then you don't need it). As with other accounts
you can remove it through the Control Panel->User accounts.

Thank You
1) Click on "Start|Run".
2) Enter "control userpasswords2"
3) When in the dialog, click on "Users" tab
4) Uncheck "Users must use a username and password to use this
computer"
5) Enter the username and password you want to automatically logon.
6) "Ok" out
**** NOTE ****
MAKE SURE that you have a password defined for the username you want
(and make sure you enter it correctly at (step 5) above, or the logon
will error out when you attempt to startup, and you will be unable to
access the Desktop.

I am the only user and do not have a password for logon. Do I have to
define a password or just leave it blank?

Yes, Jerry: as I said above, you MUST define a password if none exists
if you don't want to end up with an inaccessible copy of Windows.
