Microsoft Net.framework

I noticed that some of my updates are microsoft Net.framework... What are
they for please?, I'm not on a network! Just a home computer with one user,
me! :) Can someone explain to me what this is? and if it would make a
difference in space if I uninstalled it.. thanks Rainy

First, note that it has nothing to do with being on a network.
It's not "net" for "network," it's .net, pronounced dot-net.


The .net framework is a runtime file needed to run programs
written with .net. It's roughly analogous to the old vbrunXXX.dll
files needed to run programs written in Visual Basic.
Because .net is relatively new, there aren't yet a lot of
programs that use it. A few months ago I had none. Today I have
three. Even if you don't run any of these programs now, it's
likely that you will soon, so my recommendation is that you might
as well get this, so it will be there when you need it.

look at all the net has to offer and if I still don't understand it I will
