I just downloaded and installed a critical update from the Windows Update Site.
"Microsoft.NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1"
Can I uninstall Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 and Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1
from 'Add and Remove Programs' or must those two versions remain on my
machine for a reason ?

The later versions of .NET Framework are not necessarily backwards
compatible with earlier versions. Best to leave them. They don't take up
much space on your hard drive anyway.

"Must" is too strong a word, but there some programs that need the 1.1
or 2.0 versions and won't work with 3.0. My advice (especially
considering that they take up very little disk space) is to keep all
three.
