Please can someone advise if this is a needed program, and why?

I reformatted, and I don't want it, if it means I have to click my name to
logon..
thanks ms tech

The following will allow you to boot directly to the desktop:
Click on Start and run: type in control userpasswords2
Uncheck the box User must enter a username and password.

More and more applications are now requiring Dot Network Framework be
installed on a system. Given this evolution, it's better for you to have
it.

This is Usenet, not MS technical support.

It is painfully obvious how this person can deduce that these groups are MS tech support, since the the MS name is applied to it; yet you definitely have an ability to think at only one level. You also seem to be one of the most fragile people I have encountered in these groups!
Don't you have anything better to do with your life, other than finding unfounded misery in simple help requests?

I am sure you aren't talking to me!

You're welcome, Sarah and you are correct, Tom was not talking to you.

To be clear with regard to these newsgroups, contrary to "Cerridwen's" post
in this thread, these are peer to peer support groups for XP related issues
based on the group topics and "Dot Net Framework" is a related issue.

Your post was perfectly acceptable and on topic since "Dot Net Framework"
was likely installed from XP Windows Update.

Ok please explain the purpose of these groups......I thought they were help
groups where a person can come to ask for help, and or assistance in using
the Microsoft Products/Software?

Help
done unchecked user must use password

cancelled the password it asked for, cuz I don't use passwords,
now when I boot, I get, "Unable to log you in, yada yada, the windows log
on still comes on,
HELP!!!

OH NO!!!
went to print a letter, and it says I don't have permission,
I really screwed up now, Hellllllllp!!!!

well, I had problems, and kept getting the box, you are not authorized... I
did what I said I would never do, restored it back to yesterday, and I just
looked netframework is not here anymore, which suits me fine..
this has been a hellofa day for me and ng's
and I'll put the framework thing back in when I am forced to
thanks

Sarah

You're welcome, sorry for all the trouble. System Restore only restores the
system state, it's a good first line of defense against issues such as this
and much preferable to OEM restore disks that take the system back to its
factory fresh condition with no intermediate options and no repair options.
