I just bought a Toshiba laptop today. The user manual states that Microsoft is already installed, however, i cannot find MS word. I read 3 other messages similiar to this. Should i return it as defective??
Hi, Microsoft Word is *not* part of Windows. If is the OEM's choice to
include it with your PC. If you think it should of been included you need
to talk to the maker of your PC.

Microsoft Windows XP is the operating system. Microsoft Word is an
optional application you must purchase and install since it is not included with
the Microsoft Windows XP operating system.

Microsoft is not installed on your computer. Microsoft is a company,
not a program or operating system. Your laptop came with Windows, an OS,
installed.
Word ( nor Excel, Powerpoint, or Outlook ) is not part of Windows.
These are applications that run on Windows and need to be purchased
separately. Some OEM will bundle MS Office with thier machines which is
ay many think it's part of the OS.
