The most interesting situation outlined in the filing would see either Microsoft or computer manufacturers forced to install Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari by default alongside Internet Explorer on new Windows-based PCs

"Such a remedy might include a requirement that OEMs distribute multiple browsers on new Windows-based PCs. We may also be required to disable certain unspecified Internet Explorer software code if a user chooses a competing browser."

Seems a bit OTT if you ask me - I could perhaps understand them asking to make IE an optional install, but if we include all browsers then what about other bits of software. Windows Mail is no longer included with Windows 7, and I guess it might not be too long before Media Player, Internet Explorer and even all of the other little apps aren't included anymore.

I wouldn't actually mind a "lite" version of windows, with only essentials included - allowing me to choose what I install from scratch.

Same here especially if it were at a decent price and it actually worked without us having to do a lot of de-bugging for free.
