out how to get the personal folders i created back?

Did you back up your VM client before the crash? if so then use the saved back up .
If not then you are up the proverbial creek

Try running the various database repair functions in the WMUtil program:

See here for background (www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx). You can copy the backup to a subdirectory of Documents on the local disk. Then in WinMail go to File | Import | Messages and then choose Windows Mail 7 format and point to the directory under the backup that you wish to import from. If that doesn't work, then create a new folder in WinMail and open it so that it shows an empty message list. Then drag the eml files from Explorer overtop the empty message list and they will become incorporated into the folder (as long as they are only eml files). My OEX program (www.oehelp.com/OEX/) will also let you import into WinMail or OE from a directory of eml files with a button click.
