can both run on one vista computer. Microsoft mail with one email provider
(work) and outlook with another(school)? any special setup required. I
suppose each will have its own contact manager, but one could be used.

There is no such thing as "Microsoft mail". This newsgroup is for Windows
Mail; is that what you are asking about? If so, then yes, you can have both
Windows Mail and Outlook in one system but I don't understand why you need
to.

Microsoft Mail hasn't been in production for about 15 years. Windows Mail?
Yes. You can do what you want. Just set them up as if the other didn't
even exist.

when I click on an email address Outlook opens up. When I try to email a
group it opens Outlook. In windows mail it says that it is the default mail
handler. How do I get to see only Windows Mail?

Are you the same Lahkpari that replied to other threads with this same
problem, some of the threads of which are quite old? The people that are
most helpful in this group would prefer that you create a new thread and
keep all your questions about a problem in the one thread that you create.

go to Control Panel | Default Programs and set WinMail as default. To
ensure that it is, also under Default programs choose associate a file type
or protocol with a program. Then page down to the protocols and ensure that
the mailto protocol lists WinMail and not Outlook.
