I have just purchased the above item and I must say that other than the fact
that the left shift button is very small, it is a beautifully designed, quiet
and exceedingly good looking piece of kit! One other small problem is bugging
me though. All of the shortcut buttons work perfectly, with the exception of
the gadget button. Now, I was of the opinion that pressing this, would bring
the gadget box up so that I could either 1) choose gadgets that I already
have or 2) go to the Live Gadget site and download more? However, this does
not happen. When I press the gadget button, the small + sign on the top of
the sidebar next to Gagets highlights and thats it? Is it supposed to do
something? When I tried to load the original software that came with the
desktop, my computer told me that the desktop was incompatible with my O/S
and that there were issues. Strange, seeing that I am using Vista Ultimate
and the desktop set is designed and certified for Vista. So I downloaded the
driver for keyboard and mouse from the Microsoft site for the 6000, only to
find out that after I had loaded all the drivers, I noticed that it said on
the back of the keyboard that it was Laser Desktop 6000 v2.0 (it didn't say
this on the box)! So, I downloaded the keyboard drivers for the 6000 v2.0,
uninstalled the 6000 drivers and reinstalled the 6000v 2.0 drivers but still
no joy and no gadget button doing - something? Can anyone help please? Thanks
in advance. Mike, UK.

You said on installing the orig. software it said it was incompatible with
the OS, and there were issues, does it state what those issues are?
Post back with issues if you can.

Hi Bob
Yes, I believe that was the site that I went and downloaded the drivers
from? I just went to the US MS site and typed in Intellipoint Pro and it took
me to the MS Hardware download site. It then asked for 4 things. 1) KB, MS,
Desktop Set and something else I can't remember now. 2) Series of hardware
(ie Laser Desktop 6000 v2.0). 3) O/S and 4) Language. I put in all the
correct details and downloaded them and that was it? However, I did notice
that I could not find the drivers for the actual set, they had to be
downloaded seperately. Below is what it says when I put the MS drivers disc
in that came with the set (I personaly think they put the wrong CD in the
box):

This program has known compatibility issues
Intellitype/Intellipoint has know compaibility issues with this version of
Windows
Then 3 boxes 1) Check online, which takes me to the original download site
that we have just talked about, 2) Run programme and if I do that, all hell
breaks lose and it says setup cannot instal this software because your
computer does not meet system requirements. To instal this software, you must
have a computer running Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000 SP4! and 3)

I will download the links that you have sent here to see if they are any
different but I think they are the same? Thank you for your kind help and
hope to hear from you soon/ Cheers! Mike

Your original post indicated that the problem only occurred when attempting
to click on the Gadget button, so in all other occasion the keyboard & mouse
operate OK.
Assuming your drivers are up to date, have you recently installed/downloaded
any programs?
There is only one report in the MS KB which describes your problem,
unfortunately the answer is not really that helpfull, but it seems to be the
likely cause, check it out:

Yes Bob, everything else is hunky-dory and works perfectly. I will check the
link in your last post and see if that could be the problem? I have
downloaded some programs of late so that could be the answer? It's strange,
because the actual desktop comes with very little in the way of a
'destruction' manual and only tells you the basics so I am still
non-the-wiser as to what the gadget button actually does do? LOL! Cheers
again! Mike.

That could very well be the problem Bob. I will delete all the gadgets that I
don't hardly ever use and only keep the 6 or 7 that I use mostly and see what
happens and let you know accordingly. Thanks again.
