I have Microsoft Office Professional 2003 installed on my computer. Does it
come with Microsoft Jet 4.0 already as part of it or do you have to order
that separately. I have a table/application that when I attempted to open it
I got a message that I had to have Microsoft Jet 4.0 with SP/8 or later in
order to access the data without getting any warnings.

My operating system is Windows 2000 Professional with service Pack 4
installed and functioning. Office Professional 2003 with latest service
pack (I believe 4 ) installed as well, but unsure if Microsoft Jet 4.0 is on
this computer. I know Jet 4.0 SP 8 is not yet..... don't want to attempt to
installl a SP without the product....

Thanks,

MS Office 2003 uses Jet 4.0, but it does not come with SP8. You need to
visit the Microsoft Download site to get SP 8.

So, I have to assume that Microsoft Jet 4.0 is part of Office 2003. I just
don't understand why it doesn't appear to be part of my system. I'll go
ahead and attempt to download S/P 8 and see if it helps.

I had Ms/office 2003 on my computer at work and they had to install the Jet
4.0 separately, that's what concerned me.

Thanks for responding.

You have Jet 4.0. You had Jet 4.0

What you didn't have was Sp8 security update.

You need to apply the recent service packs to protect
your computer from viruses and internet attacks.

Windows XP Sp2 includes the Jet security update, and
many other security updates, and that would be an
alternative to identifying and downloading all the many
individual security updates.

David,

Thanks for the confirmation. I knew that under Microsoft Office
Professional 2000 that Jet 4.0 was part of it, but in some of my reading
recently, it left me confused as to if it was a part of Office professional
2003. Again, for some reason, our techs at work had to manually add Jet 4.0
to my P/C. Don't know why, but they had to add it by itself, and used a
totally different CD to install it with, not the install CD's for Office 2003
professional. That's where the confusion was, I was afraid that it would
have to be installed totally separate on my home computer as well.

I do appreaciate the responses form both. I've installed Service Pack 8,
and will attempt to access the data files tonight, hopefully the error I got
when I first attempted the connection will no longer be there.

Have a good evening. Thanks again for the responses and support. It's
always nice to be able to ask questions and get helpful support and ideas.

Robert

I have Windows XP sp2 installed and I keep getting the same warning about Jet
4.0. When I scan for updates, I have all of the available updates installed.
