Hi -

First time in this NG. I have IE 6 and service pack installed. Everything was working fine until the other day when I went to movies.com. I selected a movie for more info and then tried to run some clips or something and it didn't work. I got kinda of a screen blink and that's all. I tried a couple of times. Since then, I have a problem with IE. I couldn't find anything refering to this on IEs web page.

My problem is that I keep getting the: "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close".

I click for more information and get:

Error Signature:
AppNAme: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.0.2195.6688 Offset: 00007556

If I click for details, I get:

Exception Information:
Code: 0xc0000005 Flags: 0x00000000
Record: 0x0000000000000000 Address: 0x000000007c4e7556

Any help is appreciated. I tried re-installing but nothing changed.

Select Kernel32 errors on this page.
http://www.generation.net/~hleboeuf/erriexpl.htm

It may be caused by a parasite , in IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

Hello All...

I know that this problem has been covered in past postings, but has anyone
found a fix for the dang encoding problems with IE 6 SP1 ??

It seems that ever since I downloaded a hotfix patch from Microsoft, that
when I surf the net, web pages will not open and reveal only empty white
boxes with little red x's.....When I check my encoding setting, I usually
find it has changed to Unicode or ISO. When I manually change the encoding
back to Windows encoding, it sometimes helps, but always goes back to ISO
every time I load another page.

This is driving me "nuts" and I have no joy....

Any ideas??

Red "X" issues look it out on this page.

Pay attention to this article. Your may be missing some .nls files for your
registry setting is not correct.

Pictures Are Not Displayed on Web Sites in Internet Explorer
A Web page may display an image as a red X, or a placeholder may appear in
place of the image.
Covers also this problem: Web page that is encoded for the Western European
(ISO) code page might not display any images:
