Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer

I have had a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer USB mouse for a couple of
years. It still works, but I'm unable to control the fast clicking. When I
left click on something, it decides to click too much. I assume that it
needs cleaning, as I'm sure that dust has somehow gathered inside. Does
anyone know where I might get it serviced? I really hate to throw it away
if I don't have to.

Thanks,

Thanks

Thanks, but the mouse I have is an optical and the instructions in the
suggested article are not for the optical mouse.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Turn the mouse over, see those rubber pads on the bottom? Carefully peel them up. The screws are under them. You'll need a #0 or #1 (can't remember which) Phillips screwdriver to remove them. Clean the insides and reassemble it.

Gunk also builds up by the ball, pop it out and clean the bearing surfaces.

Jeff,

Shirley stated that the mouse is an optical one. There is no ball on
optical models.

There is on my Trackball Optical. It is on the left hand side of the mouse and I move it with my thumb.

Sorry, I don't know about all of the different models available.

A TrackBall is not an IntelliMouse Explorer.

Also, the TrackBall bal can be easly poped out and cleaned!

BTW: I alos had a TrackBall Optical and noticed that I needed to clean the
sensor weekly, especially after a "sweaty" game session.
