Hi,

When I insert my Office installation CD into my CD-ROM, the CD folder opens
instead of the installation program. When I double click on the setup file,
the setup program runs for awhile and result in an error staing that there's
a problem with my msi file.

I tried installaing the latest version (v3.1) of microsoft installation file
but the above problem is still present.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanx!

hi JS,

Thanx so much for the help. now I'm able to run my installation. However,
another problem still exist. Why is it so that the Office CD doesn't autorun
when I insert in into my CD drive? It opens up the CD folder instead.
Previously it autoruns and goes direct to the setup dialog box. Now for me to
run the CD, I need to go to my computer, right click on my CD drive and click
on install before the setup screen comes up. is there anyway we can resolve
this?

It works fine for my norton CD though.

Thank you.

If Autoruns works for one CD and not another (Office), check the CD for
smudge marks, scratches, etc.

As you said the Norton CD media autoplay works fine and the other (Office)
does not on your PC. Since the one that does not autorun on your PC but does
autorun on another, then I would suspect the CD/DVD drive. Try cleaning the
drive.

Hi,

I tried the autorun fix tool. No problem was detected.

There should be nothing wrong with the drive, I have 2 drives on the
computer and both having the same problem. I suspect some fault in the sytem
which I can't figure out. I'm quite confident the CD media is ok as well as
it run fine on other computers.

Guess I'll have to live with it then.

Thanx so much for your kind assistance =)
