Microsoft IE encountered a problem and needs to close

I use IE 6 and every so often I get a pop-up message which
says "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience." This has
happened twice today already, and occasionally it will do
the same error message with MS Word.

I run Windows 2000 Professional on a Pentium 3 1Ghz.
Any resolutions?

My husband has been getting this message since yesterday
only on one website, he called Microsoft and because he is
running Windows 98 they won't help him. They send to call
his computer manufacturer. They weren't any help either.
Anyone have any idea what the problem is?
