Microsoft Genenic Host Process For win32 Service

Don't stop these processes, unless there are copies of
svchost.exe in folders other than c:\windows\system32
(XP), I think on NT-based systems it should be
c:\winnt\system32.

These processes are needed to access the Internet.

You should run a scan with a good AV app, as well as a
few good anitspyware(AS) apps to see if these processes
are linked to spyware.

Use Start > Run, type in cmd and press Enter. Now type
in tasklist /svc and you will see a list of all the
processes running and the services that are linked to
these processes. Currently on my system, there are also
six svchost.exe processes running. My system is clean of
spyware/malware and any known viruses/Trojans.

Just to reinforce--I agree with Alan. It is worth looking to be sure that
each is running the same code in the location Alan mentions.

The multiple runs of what appear to be the same service are because each
runs in a different security context for a number of reasons
