I just upgraded my motherboard and I'm using the onboard sound and now I
have don't have a port to plug my MS Force feedback controller. I was
wondering is there a part that I can add to the end of the plug that will
let it use a USB port? I don't think so but I wanted to ask.

Thanks

No, problem is that there is no data hard coded into the joystick to allow
the USB Controller to know what it is that is connecting to it.

Two solutions, neither are very satisfactory but
a) Get a separate soundcard with a Gamport Controller on it
b) Get a new USB joystick

Cari,
I have a older Sound Blaster Gamer Live but I wanted to use the newer
onboard sound then I noticed it was lacking a game port. I may just get a
new USB joystick. Didn't MS stop making joysticks a while back? What would
be the best brand to get if not MS?

Thanks for the help.

Almost all joysticks for the last few years have been USB. I have the
ForceFeedback2.... which comes with the Sidewinder v4 software which works
just fine in XP. Install the software BEFORE connecting the joystick to the
PC.

Microsoft is discontinuing its gaming device line, this year??

Most of the gaming devices are not based on USB.

Logitech and Thrustmaster and two reputable companies.
