Yeah because they saw their sales on VISTA Turn to crap. I won't buy
it anyway but it goes to show you if everyone Complains you get results.

I wonder if businesses are going to suddenly adopt Vista when they
told XP to **** off and die.

Told you all it wasn't set in stone.

Don't congratulate yourself so quickly. I'm still waiting for confirmation
that the changes (in EULA) apply to the OEM versions that you install
yourself. -Dave
Actually, there I think it'll be tied to the mobo.

One of the links said that it applied only to the "boxed" (read: retail)
version. Check the links posted by Crispy Critter.

In that case, Microsoft hasn't really changed anything. -Dave

Unlikely given that a motherboard failure has to be covered, legally.

And I bet that the real reason MS changed the detail was because
their legals told them that the original detail couldnt fly legally.

They've changed as little as they could. IMHO Microsoft's ultimate goal is to
get maximum money from every customer while giving the customer as little as
possible. They may have retreated from the one-transfer position momentarily,
but you can be sure the net outcome will be a gain in their favor.

Does the phrase "power to the people" strike a chord with any of you?
No big corporaton will do the right thing (put people first) unless they
feel forced to. We have to use people power to keep those Bozos on
their toes.

Mindless conspiracy theory. Its just about minimising piracy
and some bluff on stuff like OEM licenses which isnt even legal.

Yet another utterly mindless conspiracy theory.

Nope, some of us actually have enough of a clue to realise its origin, comrade.

That is what legislation is for.

Just another utterly silly mindless wank. Fools like you dont keep anyone on their toes.

Can you blame MS for trying to limit the OEM version? You can buy it on
eBay without ANY hardware (kinda strange). Or just walk into a local
computer store and buy a 3 dollar PSU or 5 year-old motherboard and get the
OEM copy for half the price of the boxed unit. Not saying what they are
attempting is legal or not, however it is a business. They are trying to
get people who treat the OEM like a retail version to pay for what they are
getting.

All I needed to get the 1/2rd price OEM version of XP pro was get a
CD-ROM audio cable, which they didn't even charge me for lol.
