I have replaced a fax machine with a computer running Windows XP Pro
Fax Console and a Softv92 fax modem. Everything works well most of the
time, but occasionally a fax is received that is not viewable in any
image viewing software. I assume it is some garbage in the
transmission, the .tif file has data but is obviously corrupt. I have
updated the driver of the modem but the problem still exists. I am not
familiar with the error correcting properties of fax machines, could
there be an init string needed?
