microsoft excel 2003 dont show up on my computer

i just bough a brand new home edition windows xp computer some one
recommended to me to buy the book with the name windows excel 2003 for
dummies and the xample screens they show in the book are not the same that i
have in the computer when i start all programs in the start menu it dont
show up nothing with the name microsoft excel but the name of the program
for spreadsheets is microsoft works and then show a submenu that say
microsoft spreedsheets and microsoft then adreesses thenn microsoft word
but never shows nothing like microsoft excel my computer is a emachines
copirights 1998-2001 model-t2642 what i thing right now is that i have a
old version of excel if that is what happen could some one show me if it is
possible for me to get the microsoft excel 2003 version and show me how to
get it.

While Works does have a spreadsheet program it is very simple compared to
Excel. They are different products.

Excel is one of the MS Office products. Here is an URL that goes to the MS

Excel is sold separately and its included with some Office products. If you
click on any of the "How to Buy" links for the various products, you'll
find a section titled "Upgrade Eligibility." Looking at that page, it would
appear that Works 6 and up qualify for the upgrade pricing.
