Dear friends:
Microsoft eats three or more Gigabytes of your hard disk space per
year!!!!
Microsoft eats your hard drive space a lot with the Windows and Office
Security Update Facility. I have a new PC since four months, and some
Gigabytes have disappear for that reason. Look at the following
folders and all their sub folders contained in them, and try to know
how much hard disk space they take:
C:\WINDOWS\$hf* and sub folders
C:\WINDOWS\$Nt* and sub folders
C:\WINDOWS\$MS* and sub folders
C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLO* and sub folders
C:\WINDOWS\Install* and sub folders
You will have hundreds of folders and sub folders of them in your hard
drive, and after a year, they will take maybe three or four Gigabytes
of your precious hard disk space per year.
After four months of having my new computer, only my
C:\WINDOWS\INSTALLER folder (including their sub folders) is even
bigger than the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder (including their sub
folders)
I would not suggest you to delete them, I am not so expert to give you
that recommendation, but if your hard drive is formatted in NTFS,
declare these folders and all their sub folders compressible. You will
recover between one to two Gigabytes of space.
I think that this Microsoft Policy should be rejected as unacceptable.
Microsoft should announce a time frame where all the garbage collected
as a result of their Windows and Office Security Upgrade Policy should
automatically deleted by themselves.
Thanks
