Twice in recent days, I have had to go direct to my mail server to delete a
'blocked e-mail' (too big to download before time-out).
Both times it was a so-called security patch from 'MSN Security'.
Am I correct in thinking this is bogus, a virus/trojan/worm trying to find a
way in?
I normally update my OP direct from Microsoft's website.

Microsoft DON'T send patches/fixes via email.

They do however send (if you have registered) notifications (digitally
signed) of available patches/fixes

If it was ~152k attachment it was almost certainly W32-Gibe.B. MS don't
=ever= send unsolicted patches by email. You're lucky if you only got 2
... I've been getting 5-10 a week for several months now (all reported to
the originators' ISPs).

I'm always getting the damm things,
You are not alone,
Microsoft have recently reiterated they do not send out patches.

Yes, it is. Microsoft never emails a patch. They would only send you the
link where you could get the patch.
