Microsoft camera and scanner wizard

When I insert my memory card into my card reader,the removable Disk (E) menu opens when I select copy pictures to a folder on my computer using Microsoft Scanner and camera wizard nothing happens the menu dissapears. I can select Veiw pictures with the fax viewer and that works .I can select print pictures and that works,open folder and that works, but no Microsoft scannerand camera wizard. I talked to microsoft today and they suggested this site or pay them . As you can see I came here. They tell me my problem is in Windows XP. Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you Tom

I had same problem. I used some registry cleaners and some how messed up the registry. I just found out how to fix this problem. You need to edit registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\WIA.AutoplayDropHandler.1. When you hit the plus symbol the only folder that shows is "clsid". You need to add another folder "shell" then linked to another folder under that called "open" then another folder under that called "DropTarget". In that folder you need to add the entry in the right hand side of "clsid" = "{F1ABE2B5-C073-4dba-B6EB-FD7A5111DD8F}" I got this info from http://www.tek-tips.com/gviewthread.cfm/lev2/67/lev3/70/pid/779/qid/737278.
