'Ol Bill has announced that the final release of Microsoft AntiSpyware will
be free to licensed Windows users.

And everyone thought he was just in it for the buck ;)

But would you really trust it?

Why not? It's the best according to most tests

Because it is Microsoft and with the amount of problems they have with
security on windows, would you really trust them with Anti-spy software?

I already do. Removed Ad-aware already :) Besides, Windows is currently the
best OS available (for home users at least). Much like a mother-in-law,
whether you like it or hate, you can't get rid of it :)

After reading good reviews I downloaded MS AntiSpyware. I couldn't
install it because it required IE6. I don't use IE, and don't want to
install IE6 just so I can install another program.

Oh well, I guess can live without it. I did wonder, though, whether
this was just MS's way of forcing me to upgrade to IE6? Why should an
anti-spyware program need IE in order to run? Is this a new development
since MS bought the program, or did it always require IE6?

May use IE for updating.

To be honest, if I did use on-line banking, I would probably rethink my MS
products policy. However, for now I prefer user-friendliness to security :)
But I must add that this troyan doesn't actually use any security holes in
MS antyspyware itself. It probably uses only security holes in Windows :)

Shill? I do not pose as a satisfied customer, I happen to be one. And what's
wrong with not posting my e-mail address to newsgroups? I recieve about 100
spam mails per day as it is :(

....Fran, your complete acceptance of this MS product and the fact that
you abandon those other products suggests to me that either you are
misrepresenting yourself, or that you do not appreciate the efforts of
those other products to control the invasive nature of MS browser and OS
in general. The many spam emails you mention is a disease of this
internet, mostly spread by those crafty marketing and information
collectors.

As for your email address comment, I was merely pointing out that such
anonymity was similar to the ploys of spammers and other noxious
individuals behind keyboards and monitors.

Let's hope that we can all find some relief from the constant intrusions
in our networking..
