Thanx for letting us know. I didn't get any updates, but also didn't get the
red x and message..can't connect to internet. Guess I am up to date, as I
updated everything on Dec. 8th. Glad to see we are finally running smoothly
again....:)

I tried Webroot SpySweeper that my ISP provided but it slowed my system down
to a crawl when the "watchers" enabled so just have it to scan (not running
in background) and am using MS Antispyware again now that it is fixed.

I've got a curiosity question--for anyone who saw the "cannot connect message"

What's your ISP?

What are the first two portions of your IP address?

(one non-working location I checked was on Verizon DSL, and had an IP
beginning with 70.16.)

I'm going to back off that post. this appears, from folks addresses, to be
way beyond just a Verizon issue. Still looks like a routing issue, but I
don't think it was within just Verizon, large as they are.

It appears the problem is far more widespread than that, i work at a computer
shop in Australia and we keep getting customers call with the same problem, a
range of ISP's..

My ips has a starting ip of 220.240 and i can't use antispyware update.

perhaps all of australia is blocked out?

Are you still having the problem? The issue may well be in a router or
peering connection affecting all of Australia, and New Zealand, for that
matter.
