MicroSoft antispyware error message

I try to update this software and receive an error
message: Cannot connect to the Internet.

I have DSL and this program connected in the past but for
a few weeks it has not been able to.
Just downloaded an upgrade and the same thing happens.
Anyone know what could be wrong?

Ensure that your browser is working online, open Internet Explorer, click
File and ensure that Work offline is not checked. Also check to make sure
that your Firewall (if you have one installed) is not blocking Microsoft
AntiSpyware.

make certain to allow microsoft.com in your firewall in
order to download the updates. Make certain to pay close
attention to not block scripts, embedded objects, nor
mime-type integrated objects.
