Microsoft AntiSpyware "Blocked Alerts"

I have "Blocked Alerts" checked and I don't understand what
that means. The help file doesn't enlighten me at all.
I am not getting any alert messages to respond to at all.
 
No alert messages will be displayed as long as they are
blocked. In order to get the messages to display,
uncheck the "Block all alert messages" check box.
