I run my system with the toolbar docked to the left-hand
side of the screen. As a result, whenever I get an alert
the message just shoots up and out the top of the screen,
giving me no chance whatsoever to respond to it.

Any ideas how to fix this?

( Otherwise it runs fine..... )

This is a known bug, but thanks for reporting it.

I have heard that if you move you toolbar to the bottom of the screen it
will work and then move it to the left-hand side and it will continue to
work.

It won't, I'm afraid. This is a bug--top and bottom are fine, left and
right are not.
