Hi good day, I would like to find out something. Now, my
employer wants me to create a database to record
information about all the company's vehicles. Like when
was their last tune up and when the insurance is due and
stuff like that. However he wants an added effect. He
would like a pop up message to remind us when things are
due (like when the insurance is due and when the next tune
up is due). He wants it to keep popping up until it has
been entered that it has been done. That way it won't be
that until it is due that someone remembers that it has to
be done, so it can be done in a timely basis. Does
Microsoft Access have that kind of capabilty? And if it
doesn't is there I program that I could integrate with
Access to give me that capability? Or do you know of a
software that can store information like Access and give
me the reminders my boss desires? If anyone has an answer
for me you can respond directly to my email address.

Does
Microsoft Access have that kind of capabilty?

Yes. You could come up with a normalized data structure for the
information you want to store (a table of Vehicles, related
one-to-many to a table of Maintenance, and probably other tables); and
create a Query listing all maintenance that is due or overdue. You
could then display the contents of this query on a Form which would
open automatically whenever you open Access.
If anyone has an answer
for me you can respond directly to my email address.

Done... but:

- This request is considered impolite. Like many of the other
volunteers here, I'm a self-employed consultant donating my time free
of charge; if it's worth my while to answer questions, it should be
worth yours to come back to the newsgroup for answers. Private EMail
support is reserved for paying clients.

- Posting your EMail address in clear in the newsgroups exposes it to
spammers and to the notorious SWEN virus; you'll very likely start
getting unwanted EMail, including mail purporting to be Microsoft
security upgrades (the SWEN virus - don't open it!!). Sorry, but it's
too late to avoid this now.

First I would like to thank you for your suggestion Mr.
Vinson, I will be sure to give it a try.

Secondly, I am sorry if I offended you by asking if anyone
could email me directly. I have never used this before I
just came upon it while searching for answers to my
question, hence I did not know how things operate here and
how answers to questions are given and by whom, so I had
no idea that persons were giving up their free time as you
said. It was not impoliteness on my part, just ignorance
about how things work seeing as I have never been here
before. I find that you could have spoken a little better
than that and I did not appreciate the way you did because
I SIMPLY DID NOT KNOW. You made it sound like if I was
ungrateful or something by asking if I could be emailed
directly. I just thought that sometimes persons spoke
directly via each others email to help each other out.

John wasn't offended. He gave you excellent advice on you question, then
gave excellent advice on internet etiquette. He made all his points in a
very polite, courteous, and patient manner. I can't agree with you that he
could have spoken better or made it sound as if you were ungrateful. John
is one of the outstanding experts who hang out here. You're barking up the
wrong tree, and since John is apparently too polite to tell you so, consider
yourself informed.

No offense taken; and I apologize if I came across as attacking you
for suggesting it. I was just stating the "ground rules" of the
newsgroup. I realize that ASCII filters out any emotional content, but
I assure you, I wasn't trying to dump on you!
