We are facing printing problem after installing SP 4 on
windows 2000 professional.
Printer is HP 1200 installed an windows 2000 Professional
SP 3(one of the nodes).
We are running one domain.

Problem is that when print command is given with any
application from that machine (Win2000 Pro with sp4) to
this printer from the network, Application hangs for some
time for at least 4-5 minutes.
When we uninstall SP 4 from client machine. Problem
resloved.
If someone was facing the same problem and have solution
so SP 4 is installed and printer works on the network
without any delay.

Taking RPC out of the picture solved this for us. First remove the
network printer and then install it as a Local Printer as follows (the
last step is the key):

Open Printers

Double-click Add Printer to start the Add Printer wizard, and then
click Next.

Click Local printer, clear the Automatically detect my printer check
box, and then click Next.

Follow the instructions on the screen to finish setting up the printer
by selecting a printer port, selecting the manufacturer and model of
your printer, and typing a name for your printer.

When the Add Printer wizard prompts you to select the printer port,
click Create a new port.

Name the new port as the network share (\\ServerName\ShareName)
