I recently installed a fresh copy of windows XP on my machine, it uses an Asrock motherboard, a k7s8x 1.0, to be exact, with an on-board sound card. Can someone explain to me how I am able to increase the volume of my microphone input? I've tried two different microphones, and both register sound, only too low to be heard, I've tried turning on the hardware acceleration, and increasing all the volumes to 100%, to no avail...any other ideas? an answer within the next few hours would be a godsend! thankyou much!

Be sure to connect your mic to the right slot (try
different slots). in windows volume control there is an
advanced button, if you see it click it and click on 1
+20db Gain, that should rise the mic volume a lot. And you
must select mic as recorder device too (options,
properties, recordig devices, ok, and select mic). Set
advanced controls too.

i hope this help
