Hi,

I hope someone can help.

On my new pc, I cannot get the microphone to pick up
sound. I can get sound, both system and cd audio and the
problem is solely related to the mic.

The mic itself works as I have tested it on another
machine.

I am running XP home and when I installed the sound
drivers, it downloaded some nforce drivers from the
microsoft website.

Does anyone have any experience with these drivers and
have you had similar problems, if so, have you been able
to solve the problem.

Thanks very much.

So just where is the jack for the microphone? On a sound card? On the
motherboard backpanel? In the case (maybe on the front)? How do you
know in this new system that the mic jack is actually connected to
anything?

Have you check in your sound controls that the mic input is actually
enabled? Double-click on the volume tray icon to get the Volume Control
window, Options, Properties, Recording, check the mic is selected (to
view), click okay, and check if the mic is enabled (Select checkbox is
checked). Go into the Control Panel to open the Sound applet and check
under the Audio tab if the correct device (that operates the mic input)
is selecting for sound recording.
