microphone issues

Have 2 systems with identical motherboards, ASUS P4B533's
with Intel 845E chipsets. The microphone does not
function on either board. Tried upgrading MB BIOS.
Reinstalled sound drivers. Any know issues here?

Assuming its plugged in the right socket, its turned on in XP etc....

Try out a friends mike on your MB's. Try out your mike on a friends system
that you know works. If the friends works on yours and yours doesn't work on
his, basically your mike is knackered.
