Ran full scan, caught 2 virus, and 4 inf. files my program didn't, and got
rid of them. It found 4378.4 KB of Temp. files, cleaned them, but I have run
the cleanup scan 18 times, one after the other, and keep getting various KB
of Temp files! Do I keep running till I get zero? (It says it "cleans"
them, does that mean delete, I hope?)

Like various other click on buttons, of late, I have to do Alt, Ctrl,
Delete, 1 or more times to wake up the "Cleanup" page link, then X of Task
Mgr. Now, suddenly, my key strokes are taking a long time to arrive
onscreen!

Have Pen. 1.7, 512 mem., 7% full large HD, CPU with nothing open spikes to
100%, and 67 processes shows with nothing open.

I have maintained a firewall, virus scans, AdAware, Window Washer, System
Works, defragmentation, some "tools" files deletion, etc. Any comments much
appreciated!

Temp files come and go. If you have only 4 or 5 meg you
must not be doing much with the system in way of browsing.

I am not sure about the sluggishness and/or hang you mention,
but 65 processes for a fresh boot is way too many for a base
install of say XP (you did not state the OS involved).

Try getting autoruns from www.sysinternals.com or a similar
tool and see what all is configured to autostart on boot and/or
on login and make sure you really do want everything loading.
You may have one anti-malware wrestling with another if you
have multiples running in the background. If you are sure the
system is clean, try minimizing what is running and then with
a system working as it should you could try adding back in
what you really want and feel you need.
