Mickey Mouse Context Menu Problem

I recently got a Dell 1907FP monitor. I just hooked it up, XP
recognized it, and everything is fine. Didn't use the Dell CD.
Now, when I right click on an AVI, MPG, MPEG, or any other type of
visual file, the bottom line reads "Play on My" > Dell 1907FP.
It just showed up after I hooked up the Dell. Before, there was no
message reading "Play on my" > Compaq 17" CRT.
Where did this message originate and how can I get rid of it ????
TIA for all responses.

And Dell tech support said?

I figured that with a Mickey Mouse context menu, you'd have to ask Walt
Disney. ;-) You know, Big Ears, Incorporated.

You can always check out the ContextMenuHandler key for any of the
extensions in the registry:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AVIFile\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

and see if any odd-ball handlers are registered.
Currently all mine are WMP......

You can also use ShellExView without having to mess around in the registry.

[[ShellExView lets you view all installed shell extensions. If available, it
displays the description, as well as version details, company information,
location, file name and more. You can optionally disable/enable any item,
which can be very useful to disable an extension, that you don't need or
that has been left behind in your right click menu from a previous software
install. ]]

They have never heard of the problem. I'm really not sure if it's a
Dell problem. The only time it comes up is with "movie" files with WMP
as the launch program. However, it doesn't show up if I right click on
a MP3 file. Strange

I ran shellexview and there were only two entries that were not Microsoft and
they were programs I had installed months ago. The only similar entry I
found in the registry says "Play On My TV" where the context menu says "Play
on My > Dell 1907FP". Dell tech support thinks I should reinstall the
monitor using their install CD.

Try the Windows Media Player newsgroup then. Make sure to include what
version of WMP you are using.

Did it. We'll see if anyone in that group has had the experience.
