Old system was Win98SE, Logitech Wheelmouse with drivers 9.41.xx. I use
Netscape as my newsreader. With the old system the subject window and
message windows in the newsreader activated when the mouse was over each
window and I could scroll in each. I could also scroll in the EQ chat
windows.

New system is Windows XP Pro, also with a Logitech Wheelmouse. With the
same drivers, Netscape newsreader retains the auto-activating scrolling
windows, but I am unable to scroll the EQ chat window. If I use the MS
native drivers, I can scroll in the EQ chat window, but must click in
each of the newsreader windows to activate scrolling.

Is there a solution to this, or must I learn to live with the new op sys
minus a really useful feature? Arrrgh, lol!!

This doesn't seem like the right newsgroup for your question, but
anyway...

I think you need to get the Tweak UI Powertoy (from Microsoft) for XP,
and enable the X-Mouse (Activation follows mouse) option with that.

Have tried that, no joy... I posted here, as I thought I'd find more
people with tech knowledge than in a game newsgroup. Should have
specified that EQ meant EverQuest. Sorry.

You might try updating your Logitech mouse software. You're not using
the latest version.

I've never played EverQuest, and I don't use XP much. But I've read
that you can set games in XP to run in Win9x compatibility mode. Have
you tried that? If you're already doing that, maybe you could try
turning that off.

Later versions of the Logitech Mouseware removed the feature I like, so
it looks like a catch 22 situation to me....
