I am running XP with IE 6.0 and service pack 2. When i save web pages as
archivce files, they have an unrecognised icon, as do any html files. When i
select Tools, folder options, file types in say my documents, the file type
and extension are there with the correct logos intact. Any ideas of how to
re register the logo or restore as it has been like this for a while, and is
bugging me.

Any help appreciated.

Ramesh, still not working. Interestingly if i write a word document and
then save as a web page, the icon is there.

When i click on the tools, file types and scroll to the mhtml part, there is
no icon there under the extensions columni.e. it displays the standard icon,
however, if i click on change button, the icon in the next dialog box is the
correct one!

Sam,

Is there an IconHandler set here?

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mhtmlfile\ShellEx\IconHandler]

Ramesh,

Under [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mhtmlfile\ShellEx\IconHandler], name = (default),
Type = REG_SZ and Data = (value not set)

Sam,

If you're sure that you've removed the IconHandler key and the problem
persist, proceed further:

Option 1: Try repainting the Desktop:

1. Right-click Desktop, choose Properties, Appearance Tab.
2. Click Advanced button, choose Icon from the drop-down list
3. Set it's size to 31 and press OK.
4. Close the dialog
5. Repeat the above steps (1-4) and set the Icon size to 32 (defaults)

Option 2: Repair the icons using Tweak UI Power Toy for XP
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/tweakui.htm
(You may use Tweak UI v2.10 for XP SP1 and above)

Hope this helps!

Sam,

I don't think that's possible. But, you should be able to reinstall via
ie.inf file, and point to the Servicepackfiles folder in Windows. Locate the
ie.inf file (might show as just "ie" in Explorer) in the %Systemroot%\Inf
folder, and right-click ie.inf file, choose Install.

Ramesh,

On trying this, about halfway through, it says "need file mswrd632.wpc on

My computer came pre installed, so i dont have an XP CD, only a drivers and
utilities CD.

Any ideas?
