.mht files not displaying correctly

I'm running IE6.0 and XP home.
I've saved some web pages as a single file with the
.mht extension.
When double clicking filename.mht I got an error msg
re: couldn't find the application. I could drag/drop the
..mht file onto the IE window and it displayed fine.

I then deleted the mht association then recreated it.
Now double clicking filename.ext brings up IE OK but
the display shows the HTML code and I can't figure out
how to get it to show it as a webpage.

What did I do wrong and how do I fix this?

Thanks,
Oscar

Instead of doubleclicking rightclick and find out what your options are.
Which one is bolded? In Folder Options, File Types, Edit File Type
what does that action equate to?

I suspect you lost a lot of options.

Try Run... regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll

Thanks,

Good luck
