I have rescued a PC from the skip at work, it is a Asus MEW mobo, rev 1.06
and it was fully functional apart from a corrupt OS install (amazing what
these lazy engineers will chuck away rather than repair). It came in a big
nuke proof industrial rack case so I have swapped it all into an ATX tower
case with a 350W psu. I know the machine was working in the old case as I
re-formated and re-installed windows before transplanting it. The tower
case itself was home to my main system only a week before so I am pretty
confident the PSU is good in that too. The problem is that the thing is
dead, it wont boot at all. The green STB_PWR LED on the board iluminates
very briefly when I first flick the power switch on the back of the PSU but
pressing the power button on the front of the case does nothing. I have
downloaded the manual for the MOBO and double checked all the jumpers etc
and all the front panel controls & LEDS are connected properly. I have
binned the rack case so I can't put it back in there to try. So, have I
missed something silly?
Thanks for reading.
