My Mum has always wanted a metal detector so for her birthday i have got her one.
It's one from maplins so it's a bit basic & my sister has bought her a how-do book so she knows what to look for and how to search for hidden treasures! We are off out later to find some goodies hidden!:D

Good luck with the search - I hope you find something, even if it's just a few old pennies (it's the fun that counts :D)... although a Roman hoard of gold would be quite nice!

Sounds like your Mum will be able to have some fun with her new metal detector Feckit. Hope she will find something interesting. Don't forget to take her "prospecting" on a beach at some point... lots of odd coins tumble out of pockets and sometimes, even more interesting bits and bobs wash-up. :D Good luck. :thumb:

I have found lots of gold rings and chains over the years with my metal detector, only recently cashed the lot in because of the high gold prices and got over £450 from my scrap gold bag, had been saving all the scrap gold for years and decided to chop it all in, glad I did!

Hope you find a few goodies, beaches are good places to find earings, chains and rings that have been lost!

We get folk scouring the banks of the Thames near here at low tide but not as many these days as there used to be for some reason. Probably cos they don't find much, the 'beaches' at Greenwich and nearby are very rarely populated so no jewellery or cash gets dropped there much.

Enjoy the new hobby Mr feckit's Mum.

Been out in the rain this p.m.
No treasure was found but my Mum has been biten by the bug.:)
And it was a star buy in maplins as well, it's not bad for a starter metal detector!

If we find gold/treasure i will of course let you all know.

Way-to-go Feckit's Mum! :thumb: It's good to hear she is enjoying the treasure-hunts. You never know, she might be lucky enough to discover the next Roman hoard. Best of luck to her. :D

I have always fancied a metal dector but never got around getting one, I should get one as it would get me out of the house more rather than playing with the PC:)

My Dads always wanted one of those....Maplins 'eh?. I hear beaches are a great place to start.
I hope your mum finds something nice.

Don`t forget to remind your mum,or any one who goes metal detecting,to report any thing that might have an archeolgical connection to your local museum. If not done so you could find your self in a lot of trouble.Never the less good hunting.
