Suddenly, my Windows messenger seems to be corrupt.

Is there a way to uninstall it and then reinstall it and
NOT lose my contacts ???

What is the latest verson of Windows Messenger? I think
I am running 4.7 and I have installed all the latest
Windows updates, yet I keep seeing references to Windows
Messenger5.0

Also, although I have not tried it, is it advisable to
install MSN Messenger in addition to Windows Messenger??
Or is it better to leave well enough alone ? What are
the advantages/disadvantages of either scenario ? And
lastly, aren't they both Microsoft Product ??? Why would
Microsoft release two similar but different products ?
