Messenger Service

I am receiving messenger service message regarding secutiy patches and the
threat of viruses. Before I proceed to e-mail or internet, I must close
these windows. Any advice? Thanks.

The easiest solution is to install Windows XP Service Pack 2, as it turns off this service
and engages a firewall. The upgrade will soon be forced, so installing it now wouldn't be a
bad idea. You can find it here:

Disable the messenger service manually. Click start>run
type in services.msc and click ok.

double click messenger, click stop, change the startup
type to disabled and click ok
