Hi: In order to stop the "Messenger Service" from being
used by spammers we are able to disable it. It is part of
Windows so I was wondering if there is a positive purpose
to having "Messenger Service" enabled? Does it work
with "Windows Messenger" in any way at all? Are there any
programs that use it in a way that would make it an
asset? Thank you.

Greetings,

There's nothing in Windows which will utilize it and it's not connected to Windows Messenger
or MSN Messenger in any way.

It's purpose (and real use) is for internal corporate networks where an Administrator would
send a message about a server/printer/etc. being shut down to a user or group of users
radically quickly.
