Hi All,

MSN loads itself whenever Outlook Express is loaded. Even
if I terminate MSN via Task Manager and don not use OE
again, MSN would reload itself in the background after 5-
10 mins. I have terminated it atleast 10 times a day, yet
the problem stays.

Moreover, my PC seems to be showing signs of old age. I
think it is the XP Update Pack SP1, that I installed, is
slowing the PC. But whatever is the problem, my PC takes
a longer time to respond to applications now. Do I un-
install the SP1, or there's some other patch for the same?

Of late, the IE home page each day sets to some site.
Daily in the morning I have to set to blank. I have
deletd all the cookies & files, yet I am not able to
figure out how to find & remove the file that changes the
home page to that paticular site.

If anyone has the answers to the problems, then please
let me know. I would be obliged if anybody can come up
with solutions to the same.

Thank you,

Nitin Kuchhal.

Under Outlook Express, click on Tools/Options/General and uncheck the box
that starts Messenger when OE starts.

Greetings Nitin,

To stop this behavior, close Outlook Express, then download and run the following .reg file:

Removing SP1 should not be considered an option, as well, you should have *all* security
updates installed from the WindowsUpdate site:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Judging by your description of your problem regarding your browser, it sounds like you have
some "adware" or malware installed on your computer which besides taking over your browser,
will also cause things to slow down dramatically. To remove these, you can use either
Adaware or Spybot:
