I need to restrict Messenger for some users in my network but I see that I
can only do that for Windows Messenger and not MSN Messenger.
Is there any other way to achieve this goal?

You can place the users you want to not allow MSN Messenger into a
special OU. The apply a GP to that OU that restricts the executable for
MSN Messenger from running.

The situation is that there is no option for "MSN Messenger", only for
"Windows Messenger" and what I am looking for is an alternative to include it
in the policy options. I tested a policy for Windows Messenger and it worked
but, what about MSN Messenger ? It still runs even if Windows Messenger is
blocked. They are 2 different applications.

The suggestion was to create a 'software restriction' policy that targeted
the msnmsgr.exe executable for MSN Messenger and assigning that policy to
the 'afflicted' users. It's not bullet proof, but will dramatically impede
those users from running MSN Messenger as long as the executable remains
msnmsgr.exe.

Other than that, you presently would need to write your own adm file perhaps
using the Windows Messenger parts as a guide.
