Sam

I just downloaded Messenger PLus and I noticed there is a
option to configure for POP mail. I have a hotmail
account, but I don't know what to type for the server
box. Can anybody tell me what I need there?

Jonathan,

I'm sure I'm correct if I'm not mistaken. I have version
2.21.55. If you open it, go to Preferences, there is a
POP Mail option in the left column. It says Messenger can
only check Hotmail accounts. Messenger Plus can replace
this by checking up to four POP email accounts (no
notification can be sent).

Can you check this out for me and let me know what it is
talking about. I'm a little confused since you say
Hotmail doesn't support POP3 mail. It may not, but why
does it say you can???

Sam

Hi Sam,

Messenger itself can support Hotmail, but Messenger Plus supports POP3 accounts, POP3 is a
standard which a variety (most) of Internet Service Providers use for their users to access
and download their mail accounts.

Messenger will only check your Hotmail account and display the # of e-mails if you're using
MSN Messenger 5 or 6, or using Windows Messenger 4.6 or 4.7 with the MSN Add-In. Windows
Messenger 5 does not have support for Hotmail. As well, you cannot "set" your Hotmail
account in Messenger, it will automatically check your Hotmail if you're currently signed in
to Messenger using an active @hotmail.com or @msn.com e-mail address.
