Messenger (MSN & Windows) just Disappear

I'm running XP Pro SP1 and I can't get Windows Messenger
to run at all. There are no error msgs...it will pop up
for a few seconds and then just dissapears. I have
downloaded MSN Messenger 6.2 and they both do the same
thing.

I have tried disabling Firewall, McAfee Virus Scan and my
pop-up blocker. I have also read through nearly 2 months
of posts trying all the troubleshooting tips and nothing
works! I had this happen once before under WIN2000 and
if I had time to click anything at all I could eventually
get it to remain active, but I have tried over and over
and nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?
 
Try search at microsoft,type:Windows Messenger You should
get directed to messengers home page,download the desired
version but you need to download in the "open-mode".

I have tried re-installing several times and it doen't
work either way you download and install. Any other
ideas?
