Hello,

I just recently reformatted my hard drive and upgraded to
windows xp. Upgraded my msn broadband to msn8.
Previously never used messenger. Now, I can login and
access my msn account, but after about 5 minutes I get
kicked off line and unable to log back on. I get an error
message of unable to connect due to a firewall, check
proxy settings. I have to reboot to be able to log back
on, then get kicked off again in 5 minutes. Is there a
time out issue with messenger? If I removed messenger
would this solve the problem? Help, its driving me nuts.

Thanks!

Hi Al,
If you are getting disconnected because of a firewall,
you can change these settings. Open internet explorer,
click Tools, internet options, then connections. You
will have a dialog that shows the current connection.
From here you can change the connections to modify the
proxy/firewall that you may or may not be using. Hope
this helps.
