I had a virus on my pc while chatting on messenger. It came through
messenger- the trojan virus. I have cleaned up the virus, and I uninstalled
messenger. I went to ADD or Remove programs to remove messenger. Then I
reinstalled it again, but it shuts down my system every time I try to log
on!! Can anyone help?! Is there any else I need to do?

Greetings Chris,

When you say shuts down the system, is it actually logging you off and going through the shut
down procedure ("Windows is shutting down...", etc.) or does it just go blank instantly and
that's it?

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for responding. In answering to your question- yes it is actually
logging off and going through the shut down procedure (windows is shutting
down because of a problem with windows messenger). Any suggestion please?!

Thanks,
Christine.

Are you sure that you cleaned the virus fully? It sounds to me that you
did not get rid of it fully. What anit-virus and/or anti-spyware
programs do you use?

I am using Etrust Pestpatrol. And yes I think I have removed the virus. But
then agaib how do I know for sure what is going on? I have scanned and
rescanned! Do you have any suggestions?
