messenger has encounted a problem.

Messenger has encounted a problem and needs to close.We are sorry for any inconvenience send report to microsoft.When I do that it always comes back saying cannot identify the problem need to download windows messenger.I do that but can never get in.Everytime I click onto messenger it disappears and the problem window appears everytime.IT appears that there are afew out there with the same problem.Any help would be welcome.I NEED HELP!!!!!!!

In the error that apologizes for the inconvenience of Messenger shutting down, click the
"click here" link -- in the next screen, you'll see something like the
following: szAppName : msmsgs.exe szAppVer : 4.7.2009.0 szModName : rpcrt4.dll

If you could reply back with what the szModName has in your error, would make it easier to
determine what the problem is.

It appears to be crashing on the Real Time Communications (RTC) component. Narrowing exactly
why this is occurring could be difficult, you may simply want to upgrade to Windows Messenger
5, which uses a newer version of RTC:

I have done what you suggested.I have downloaded the Windows Messenger 5.Every time I go to install the programme it seams to take a long time.I have had the computer running for 2 hours now and nothing seams to be happening.Does it take hours to install the programme?or have I done somrthing wrong.HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
